Sentari and my conversation seemed effortless. He’s in the business of driving generational change through the development and engagement of accomplished and purposeful local leaders. My mission is to unlock human potential through the development of personal and professional well-being. We were able to flow smoothly from discussing his and my time in undergraduate programs in the Midwest to helping others define their personal missions to the importance of vulnerability to why relationships matter to why humans love to learn and so much more.

Born and raised in Phoenix, Sentari is an alumnus of DePauw University in Indiana where he studied English with an emphasis in Creative Writing. I loved the stories he told about the friendships he built in Delta Upsilon Fraternity there and how that friend group still trades barbs today. When he returned to the Valley following DePauw, Sentari began his professional career as an editor of a local publishing firm but quickly saw the value in being more extroverted or people oriented to increase the number of people he served. To capitalize on this unleashed potential, he landed a role at the Rodel Foundation of Arizona and followed that with a stint at the Arizona Humane Society (my cat, Cleopatra, and I approve). These roles led him to work with Social Venture Partners Arizona, a venture philanthropy firm, where he worked to steward effective philanthropists and strengthen social enterprises.

He is now Arizona Director of Gen Next where he is blessed to leverage his story, strengths, and experiences to be a social impact advocate and passionate relationship builder around the issues of education, economic mobility, and global security. He also speaks nationally on governance, leadership, and the concepts of venture philanthropy, nonprofit capacity building, and social entrepreneurship. Sentari also serves on the board of directors for a diverse set of nonprofits – including Co-Chair of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN), Adelante Healthcare, Phoenix Union Foundation for Education, Support My Club, Equality Arizona, CO+HOOTS Foundation, Board Developer Foundation, and the Phoenix Film Foundation.
